Denver, CO – October 6, 2025
DCPS hosted a Snow Rodeo on Friday, October 3, at the DCPS North Office Yard in Commerce City. The event served as a hands-on training opportunity for snow team managers, operators, and operations personnel as they prepared for the 2025–2026 snow season.
The Snow Rodeo was designed specifically for hourly field employees who will support winter snow removal efforts, including equipment operators, laborers, and crew leads. The training featured practical exercises, safety refreshers, and equipment operation drills to ensure teams were prepared for winter weather conditions.
“This event was about making sure our snow response teams are ready, safe, and aligned before the first storm hits,” said Tony Ortiz, Division Manager, Snow Removal. “By bringing everyone together, we sharpened our skills, built team confidence, and reinforced our commitment to supporting the communities we serve.”
While the focus was on field employees, managers were also in attendance to provide leadership support, learn alongside their teams, and help reinforce safety and operational best practices throughout the season.
The Snow Rodeo highlighted DCPS’s ongoing commitment to safety, preparedness, and service excellence, ensuring that snow removal crews can work efficiently and safely to keep roadways and facilities clear during inclement weather.
