DCPS followed a systematic approach to remove and replace the existing waterproofing. To access the underlying structure, we performed the removal of soil and previous failing waterproofing. The team then prepared the concrete by mechanical grinding, ensuring a clean and sound surface for the new waterproofing to adhere properly. Six new multi-stage planter drains were installed to improve drainage and prevent overflow.
We then installed a cold fluid applied, seamless waterproofing system due to its versatility and maximum protection against moisture infiltration. After the waterproofing was applied, root barrier protection course and drainboard were then installed for added protection and to improve the water flow to the newly installed drains.
Through a detailed and structured process, the DCPS team was able to successfully complete the project on time and within budget, restoring the integrity and durability of the planters and ultimately stopping the leak of water into the parking garage.
