Industry recognition honors Hahn’s contributions to Colorado’s landscape industry and more than four decades of professional experience.
DENVER, Colo. (November 5, 2026) – DCPS is proud to announce that Senior Arborist Tony Hahn has received the 2026 John Garvey Person of the Year Award from the Associated Landscape Contractors of Colorado (ALCC). Hahn was recognized during the organization’s annual ELITE Awards Reception on November 4 at Mile High Station in Denver.
Established in 1997, the John Garvey Person of the Year Award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated exceptional service and dedication to Colorado’s landscape industry. The award honors the legacy of John Garvey, whose leadership and contributions helped establish a permanent testing site for the industry’s landscape certification program.
Hahn brings more than four decades of experience in horticulture, tree care, and landscape services. A graduate of Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science in Horticulture, he began his professional career in Colorado in 1982. His experience includes leadership and consulting roles at ChemLawn and Swingle Lawn, Tree & Landscape Care, where he spent 30 years developing client relationships and helping property owners maintain healthy landscapes.
In 2020, Hahn joined DCPS to establish the company’s Plant & Tree Health Care Division. Starting with no existing division infrastructure, he helped develop the services, customer relationships, and operational foundation that have contributed to its continued growth.
Among his professional accomplishments, Hahn considers building the DCPS Plant & Tree Health Care Division one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of his career. His commitment to service and long-standing relationships reflects the values that have guided his work in the industry for decades.
For Hahn, the work has always been about more than trees and landscapes. Having spent his entire career working outdoors, he credits his love of nature and genuine interest in people as the driving forces behind his professional success.
“I have the best job in the world,” Hahn said, reflecting on his career. “I love being outside and experiencing all the seasons and the beauty nature has offered.”
